Bansko is one of the most picturesque and beautiful resorts in Bulgaria, situated in south western Bulgaria, at the foot of the unique Pirin Mountains, which are a national park, included in the list of world heritage. It is 160 kms away from Sofia, which has an abundance of historical sites and museums, as well as a full range of amenities. During the winter season, Bansko provides a wide variety of winter sports and activities. Pirin Mountains are Alpine type mountains with three mounts over 2900 meters. Therefore, it is ideal for winter sports with ski runs of all difficulty levels, which are well maintained and offer perfect conditions for winter sports fans. Conditions here are really good due to the long winter season and heavy snowfalls, which make a 2-metre-high blanket of snow on the tracks. Ski season in Pirin starts mid-December and ends mid-April. During the summer months there are numerous activities to be enjoyed including hiking, mountain biking, white water rafting, rock climbing, horse riding, golf and fishing. Bankso really does offer guests a wide choice of activities at any time of year.
